Calendar - On the Road - Harvest Festival - Cañon City Abbey

September 27 - Sunday Lunch and after lunch monastery tour

Larry Otto and Sally Cookson from the The Winery at the Holy Cross Abbey will greet us at noon at the Winery and we will receive a special wine glass and three tasting tickets!  Lunch will be provided by the Harvest Festival so plan on a wonderful time at the Winery and best of all this will be during the Harvest Fest... an annual event!!!!!

Something really special has been arranged for our visit. From 1:15 to 1:30 Paula will play music from the Abbey bells and this is something that only rarely happens. This is our signal to meet with Father Michael, who has been at the Abbey for many years.   Father Michael will take us on a short walk to the Monastery and the Abbey campus.  He'll tell us some stories about the farming horse program and the Abbey boys school too.

About 3:00 for those that want to learn a little bit more, Father Michael will take us on a short jaunt to learn about the historic ranch property on the Abbey grounds known as Ranch 5.   This is a location commonly gated off and we will have an opportunity to visit a historic ranch and open space in the heart of the city!
