Fremont County - Canon City - Canon City Abbey

The Abbey

   

 

The Canon City Abbey's most famous feature is the monastery which was build between 1922 and 1926.   The south tower is 167 feet high.

The Events center has been a popular location for community events since its completion in 1973. 

The Winery Tasting Room and gift store just east of the main monestary.  Abbey wines have consistently won national awards.

   

This residence used by Abbey sisters was built in 1946 with a stone clad porch designed by Father Michael Jankowski.

This large rectangular stone horse barn with a gambrel roof was built in 1938 with prison stone and labor under the leadership of Roy Best.
