Fremont Heritage - Pictures - Canon City Heritage Museums

   

Expansion of the Canon City Municipal Museum and relocation of the Local History Center to the former Municipal Building. The interior of the building was restored to original by City government and donations of materials and labor by local contractors.

The old municpal building is now home to the Canon City regional history museum and the local history center.    Come meet our staff and see what is inside!

Downtown Walking tours are available through the Colorado Museum of Prisons: Tours start at 6:30 pm from the Museum.  Advance tickets available or arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start.  Tours last 1 to 1.2 hours.  Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.  In addition they offer a cemetery crawl featuring Greenwood Pioneer Cemetery!

   

Fremont Center for the Arts .    The old post office has been successfully preserved.  The fine arts league now uses this fine facility!

Dinosaur Depot - Celebrating our paleontology resources. The Dinosaur Depot Museum, housed in the 1927 Historic Firehouse, focuses on preservation of records pertaining to Fremont County’s significant paleontology heritage.  Additionally the Dinosaur Depot Museum is recognized as a federal repository for both paleontology and archaeology resources, the first repository status in the nation that was obtained by a grass roots volunteer organization.
